On September 12, last year (2001), I was in the room of Sskuma. His room was surprisingly dirty. A half-eaten cup noodle is being to go bad and gave off a stench in tiny kitchen. Crushed coca cola can was scattered everywhere. He might be not to drink, empty beer can lie.
It is absolutely terrible.
I really thought so.
 
Sakuma's room was ruined. It was surprisingly dissolute.
Ten days will be passed soon since Sakuma started to take off from rehearsal. This rehearsal is for Physical Theater Festival held in November. We, a host company of this festival, are in the middle of rehearsal of new performance, "territory" for the festival.

Not only performers but also people are distressed. When they are distressed, people cannot care about around. They build a wall around themselves. Performers are also same completely. Distressed performer goes into their shell. They lose courage standing in front of audience. It is not problem what they are wondering. Wondered people are not sure what themselves are wondering.

On September 10. Hoshino who joined corresponding period with Sakuma and Mashino who is one year his senior visited Sakuma's room. Sakuma ran away from the window when he heard the voice of Hoshino and Mashino. His room was quite empty when they opened the door.
When I heard this matter, I was pressed for a decision.

It is like definitely but drama can not be created alone. What a performer get out of company or not is not simple not logically. Of course there is different performance might be. We say there is a drama who has no influence on the work whoever the performers are.

I had to make sure whether Sakuma had already had no condition to stand in front of audience for Hoshino and Mashino who visited Sakuma's room even being afraid of his commit suicide. If not so, Sakuma will be alive in front of us dying. Or he is dying living.

Dead people have to be dyed completely.
I was in Sakuma's room just for it.
I could not care less whether Sakuma will continue to play or not.
The TV in his room was sandstorm.  
Sakuma who was surprised at my sudden intrude, missed to put off the channel and it makes a whining sound.
Drinking Vodka poured in dirty cup which maybe had never been washed after buying, there was a long heavy silence between us.

I could not stand the silence and muttered heavily change the channel at least.
Sakuma put on the button of remote control.
The sight suddenly burst into our view was awful scene.
I saw the scene for the first time. Maybe Sakuma was same.
We ware left speechless at the scene. 
 
I do not remember how much times passed after that and when Sakuma said, "What am I doing hear."
It is sure that the date has been changed to the 13th.
Imperceptibility, Hoshino and Mashino who got drunk in rehearsal room joined.
Next day, cardboard, plastic, used clothes which should have been used territory were all broken asunder and became a mountain of garbage.

Now we are going to dash into the pile of garbage again.

Painful incident continues.
Reporter on news program read the manuscript with a painful look. Anchor man next to him is staring at TV camera with serious look. Commentator starts to talk in controlled voice.
"Couldn't they do something before this happened? Because they are human beings. They have words. We say that when a word will do the turn.
Maybe a painful incident that someone had killed someone, I am obsessed with the speech of commentator then better than the content of the incident.
"A word will do the turn." That may be.
I learned the words of the world "a word will do the turn" when I began to understand things, and how to use and how to feel it. And by that things, I believe the existence of the world "a word will do the turn" without doubt. When I was a child, I believed that other "world" is a make-believe world and it does not exist in real.
That is to say, thinking routinely, we are living in the world "a word will do the turn." And viewed in this light, his speech is natural and has no any problem specially.
But I can't help but think of his speech.
That is, now I feel that "a word will not do the turn" shows up right next to "a world will do the turn" as the uncontrollable reality not as imagination and fantasy all over the place.
His speech seems to ignore, intentionally or he really think so, the existence of "a word will not do the truth."
In other words, incident will not happen if we believe the words of "a word will do the turn."
I can't help feeling that the commentator say that who cause incidents are the people who does not believe the words or ignorant people who does not know how to use the words.
Of course it is my shrewd wavelengths and this may be such a story half listen to as a complain of commentator, "Couldn't do they something better?"
It is easy to say that there is no world, "a word will not do the turn." Or it is possible to think optimistically that it is transient incident and sooner or later "a word will do the turn" world absorb "a word will not do the turn" and world return to original stable world.
But it is not easy that if what we live holding this tow world at the same time is our reality.
"A word will not do the turn world" is the world where the word of "a word will do the turn world" can not be communicated.
 First, what we stand in the world where we can not understand the words.
For the performance, " Territory", we do not have what we have to think about without it.
"Territory" is not performed to translate ether one of the tow translate the other clearly and to understand each other.
Also, we must not to think about producing common language the world to coexist through the drama.
Because I am thinking that the language which all people all over the world understand each other can be impossible.
"Territory" will be performed to face the reality that I myself am considering after all.
Certainly in the result, it comes to near standing the obvious that we must not to give up the hope that we will find the trenchant words which will break up our reality.
